METALLICA - READER COMMENTS

KILL 'EM ALL (1983)

RIDE THE LIGHTNING (1984)

MASTER OF PUPPETS (1986)

THE $5.98 EP: GARAGE DAYS RE-REVISITED (1987

Andrew Goertz - I read your scathing review of Garage Days Revisited. Phew! You definitely have some deep-seated hatred of James “the Lush” Hetfield, but it was sooo funny.  I especially enjoyed when he pissed himself.

Ian's Music Reviews - Scathing?  Hehehehe….I was just taking the piss, y’know?  The funny thing is that I actually don’t hate the album, or James Hetfield for that matter – the whole interview thing was just an idea that popped into my head after a bit of medicine...hehehe...I probably should’ve picked on Lars, but he’s an easy target.

Anonymous - Pretty shitty reviews their dude.   You have just proven to me that your knowledge of music is 1/666 that of your ability to string together sentences.   Skip "The Wait"? Skip "Crash Course In Brain Surgery"?  How about skip these reviews as if your life depended on it.

Ian's Music Reviews - Well, I guess we'll call it a draw, since you can't string together a "thought," let alone a sentence.

...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL (1988)

METALLICA (1991)

LIVE SHIT: BINGE & PURGE (1993)

LOAD (1996)

John Chatz - skip orion? skip to live is to die? skip the small hours? skip dont dread on me? skip the unforgiven (live shit)? skip all of Load? FUCK YOU!!!!!!

Ian's Music Reviews - Thanks for checking out the site, and for kind words ....I'm sure there will always be some disagreement on which tracks should be labeled "skipworthy," but as everyone knows this whole reviewing thing is highly subjective at the best of times. At the worst of times, it can be crap, but hey - it's still fun. Please keep in mind that I am writing the reviews from the perspective of a person who generally likes Metallica, and not a diehard fan like yourself.

John Chatz - this is only your opinion!  if someone reads your fucking reviews maybe will not want to hear load or reload!!!  who are you to say it???  i dont like your reviews!!!  i dont say they are awful!!!  i just hate them and hate you!!! just me!!! just hate!!! again...fuck you

Ian's Music Reviews - Maybe I would take you seriously if you could string together a sentence or two.  Look, if I've saved even one person out there from wasting an hour of their life listening to Load then my job has been done. If I were to play that album to ten long-time Metallica fans, I'm sure that five would hate it, three would love it, and two would be indifferent. The crappiness of Load has been well-documented over the years.  It's not the first time someone has pointed this out.  Get over it.

John Chatz - I LOVE LOAD BASTARD CRAP!!!!YOU FUCKING RETARD!!!!SPEEK FOR YOUR SELF MATHERFUCKER!!!!FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUU FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUU FUCKLKAHSFNQVIO'; NWEIOPVFRHQSJL;VHASKLDFVH asdgfqASFAQDFBHAQDGML;BH

Ian's Music Reviews - Actually, I AM speaking for myself. I have never pretended to speak for anyone else.  This is fun.  You are stupid.

John Chatz - so if you are speaking for yourself...put your reviews in your ass!!! dont show them to us because we dont care!!! and how can you speak for your self when you aresaying that you could save someone from listening to load??? put them in your ass so that you can metal up your ass!!!

Ian's Music Reviews - Did I hurt your feelings, John? I'm very sorry.  It must be hard to have such a limited intellect, and not be able to express yourself in a meaningful way.  By the way, I'm not sure what you mean when you say "putting them [my opinions] in my ass so that you can metal up your ass." Is that your way of making a pass at me, or is it just your poor English and small mind conspiring to create the stupidest statement I've heard in a long, long time?

John Chatz - do you speak greek???I DO!!!FUCKING RETARD!!!IT IS NOT MY NATIVE LANGUADGE YOPU KNOW.....!!!HOW CAN YOU WRITE REVIEWS ABOUTE METALLICA WHEN YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT METAL UP YOUR ASS???YOU PIECE OF SHIT!!!METAL UP YOUR ASS IS THE FIRST NAME FOR KILL EM ALL THAT WAS FORBIDEN!!ASSHOLE!!!PUT YOUR METAL REVIEWS IN YOUR ASS ONCE AGAIN STUPID *!!!

Ian's Music Reviews - I'm so sorry - I didn't realize English isn't your native language. Your grammar is so pristine, and your vocabulary is so advanced that I thought for a minute that you were a native speaker (note: use of sarcasm). All kidding aside, though, something tells me that you can't string a sentence together in your native language. After all, stupidity transcends languages, and you lack of intelligence couldn't be more obvious.
Actually, I do know about the original title for Kill 'Em All, "Metal Up Your Ass." What I don't understand is why I should stick my reviews and "metal" up my ass at the same time.  Have a nice day!

RELOAD (1997)

Andrew Goertz - Well, another couple of excellent reviews. I never have even heard the whole album Reload, and never really wanted to, but thank you for reminding me about the track Fuel. I hadn't heard it in a long time and promptly downloaded it. That is an excellent song on a not-so-good album. I can't believe that is Marianne Faithful singing the loop in The Memory Remains. I always thought it was some old dude (close enough I guess).

S & M (1999)

"The Wanderer" - Well written review, I'll say that. But dude, how do you not like SM? It offers up some intense, kick ass versions of Metallica songs. The Outlaw Torn fucking owns on this record. And Battery? Come on, it slays. With the fast guitars and the chaotic sounds of the symphony in the background...killer
Granted, there are few that I personally would not have chosen, but in my opinion the good far out weighs the bad.

Ian's Music Reviews - Thanks for reading!

Harry - Nice reviews there.  I agree with the majority of your reviews, apart from the one about S&M, but at least I know how to respect another one's opinion, unlike all these other sheep, who can't accept the fact all Metallica album's aren't perfect and get all bitchy and pissy when someone criticizes the band.

Ian's Music Reviews - Thanks for taking the time to read the reviews. In my opinion, one of the jobs of a true fan is to hold your band accountable when they release sub-standard material.

Warlock - S&M was a nice experiment, but one which yielded very uneven results. The orchestra complements the band nicely and works well on some songs. On other songs it just sounds too busy, too crowded. Too much going on in the song. I get them impression from listening that Kamen felt the need to work every instrument in as much as he possible could, giving no thought to subtlety, vibe, or context.

Ian's Music Reviews - Thanks for the feedback!  I totally agree with your assessment.
